Hollin at 18 months

Hollin Marie, you were 18 months old on April 30^th. Mommy and Daddy call you Hollin Marie all the time, but that isn’t your name. We’re just odd parents.

What are you up to?

Everything. You are non-stop from the moment you wake up until 6:30pm when you crash into bed. You keep all of us very, very busy!

What are you eating?

Again, everything. There are few things you turn away but when you are done eating, you are DONE. Your favorite foods are cheese, blueberries, strawberries, yogurt, rice, chicken. Really anything! You toss or chuck everything off of your tray onto the floor and laugh when Maya eats it. You love to turn your sippy cups upside down and give everything on your tray a nice juice bath. You love juice, water and tea. You love cinnamon waffle dippers and mommy loves to watch you dip them ever so delicately into the syrup :)

What are you wearing?

This is one of mommy’s most favorite things about having you. She loves to dress you up! You wear size 18-24 months. Mommy has bought you a few things in just 24 month and they are a bit big, but that’s ok. You love wearing dresses. You love your sparkly BOBS. After your bath, mommy puts you in the crib to pick out what you will wear for the next day. You will point and say, “Dah!” at each dress or outfit until I pick the one you want. You always want me to hand it to you and then you put the hanger behind your back like you are trying to put it on.



What are you up to?

You have actually started showing interest in the potty! Your brother showed interest at 18 months too.  We put the potty on the floor yesterday to introduce it to you. You loved to sit on it and clapped with us when we cheered for you! Mommy also just threw away all of the baby bottles in the house. You hadn’t been using them for awhile and they were just on standby in case she couldn’t find a sippy cup. But, she was ready to let them go and you don’t notice!

What are you saying?



Mama, Dada, Maya, Buh-Buh (brother), ball,  aht (hot), bungbah (Spongebob), Nana, more, meow, hissss (like a snake), ew (in valley girl accent, it's hilarious).

How many teeth do you have?

All of them now. The last two top molars came in this week :)

What size shoe are you?

Between a 4 and 5.

Still using a paci?

Yes and mommy is not sure when to phase this out. You are very attached, just like brother was.

What size diaper are you wearing?

You have just moved up to size 4!

How are you traveling?

This has been a difficult one for us since you were very small. You are not a great traveler, my dear. Some days are better than others, but for the most part, you do not have fun taking trips.

Are you sleeping through the night?

Three weeks ago, yes you were! It seems like we have back-slid a bit, but you are pretty good at soothing yourself.  A few nights ago you handed mommy your sippy cup as a clear message that you were thirsty. Mommy thought you weren’t feeling well, so she gave in. You’ve been waking up consistently through the night for about a week now, but it’s ok.

Are you still in the crib?

Yes, for now. You have climbed out of the crib once. This makes mommy very nervous, seeing as how your bedroom is upstairs. Thank goodness for those gates daddy made!! Mommy is not ready to put you in a toddler bed.

Any favorite toys?

You love all of your dolls and you LOVE pushing them in the stroller. You still like to pick them up and “love baby” by hugging them and swaying back and forth.

How are you as a little sister?

You adore your big brother. You want to do everything that he does and play with his toys at the same time. Daddy caught him reading a book to you just the other day :)

What is your routine?

You typically wake up at 6:30am like clockwork unless someone is noisy and you will wake up earlier. One day this week, you slept until 9am! You like your milk and breakfast in the morning, play, a morning nap around 9:30am. You sleep until 11:30am unless we have to wake you up to go pick up Harper from Preschool. You come home, eat lunch, play and go back down around 2:00-2:30 and sleep for an hour. (Some days you need this afternoon nap, some days you don't.)  You are up, then play and bath time around 5:15. Dinner, play and then you go down for the night by 6:30-7:00pm. Sometimes you wake up during the night, but it's usually because you need your paci.

You are still just a sweet and spirited as you were when you were an infant. I love how I can barely smile at you from across the room and you will beam back at me. I love your wispy, crazy morning hair and your sweet paci breath. I just painted your toes for the first time this week and you love to put your sweet little foot in my face so that I will ooh and ahh over your toes :)  Welove you so much sweet girl!!!
